The "It's a Cool Thing to Do" program is a collaboration between local meteorologists, emergency management, public transportation, and community organizations. When heat and humidity create dangerous conditions, Cooling Centers are activated throughout mid-Michigan. CATA, Eatran, and Clinton Area Transport give free rides to cooling centers for those with a physical or financial need.
