Report dead animals on the roads to the Ingham County Sheriff's Office (517) 676-8220 or visit www.ingham.org. They have a new program called DART, Dead Animal Recovery Team.

 

 BACKYARD FIRE PIT

To burn in the City of Lansing you must have a permit.

  • Permit fees are $50 a year
  • Permit allows you can burn on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Holiday evenings from 5 pm to midnight.
  • Permit allows you to burn only wood. No burning of building materials, plastic, brush, leaves, grass or trash. The fire must be continuously attended with a water supply at hand.
  • Approved container fires must be at least 15 feet from any structure. In ground fires must be at least 25 feet away from structures.

The fire marshall can revoke a permit at any time for violating these rules. The fine for violations is $150.
